What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage uses slow, deliberate strokes and firm pressure focused on the deepest layers of muscle, fascia, and connective tissue. It is particularly effective for chronic tension in the upper back, neck, shoulders, lower back, and legs. Unlike Swedish massage, deep tissue work is not primarily about relaxation — it is about correction. Expect some discomfort during the session, followed by significant relief in the days that follow.

What to expect during your session

Your therapist will begin with lighter pressure to warm up the muscles, gradually increasing depth as your body responds. Communication is important — let your therapist know if the pressure is too intense at any point.

Some post-session soreness is normal and typically resolves within 24–48 hours. Deep tissue is ideal for office workers with neck and shoulder stiffness, athletes recovering from training, and anyone with persistent muscle knots. Sessions are available in 60 and 90 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does deep tissue massage hurt?

You may feel some discomfort as your therapist works through tight, knotted areas, but it should never be unbearable. Deep tissue uses firm, slow pressure rather than force, and your therapist adjusts to your tolerance throughout — just tell them your preference. The goal is lasting relief, not pain, so communication keeps it effective and comfortable.

Is it normal to feel sore afterwards?

Yes. Mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours is normal as the deeper muscles recover, much like the day after a good workout. Drinking plenty of water, gentle stretching and rest all help. The soreness fades to leave noticeably looser, freer movement — the lasting benefit of the treatment.

Who is deep tissue massage best for?

Deep tissue suits office workers with chronic neck and shoulder stiffness, athletes and gym-goers recovering from training, people with lower-back pain or postural issues, and anyone carrying long-standing muscle knots. If you mainly want to relax rather than correct tension, a Swedish or hot stone massage may suit you better.

How is it different from Swedish massage?

Swedish massage is gentle and relaxation-focused, using flowing strokes and lighter pressure. Deep tissue uses slower, firmer pressure to reach the deepest muscle layers and fascia, correcting chronic tension rather than simply soothing it. Many guests alternate between the two depending on whether they want to unwind or to resolve specific tightness.

How long should I book?

Sessions run 60 minutes (750 AED) or 90 minutes (1,175 AED). Choose 90 minutes if you carry tension across several areas of the body, as deep tissue work is slower and benefits from the extra time; 60 minutes is ideal for focusing on one or two problem areas such as the back and shoulders.
