What is a Moroccan Bath (Hammam)?

The traditional Moroccan bath is a multi-step ritual that combines steam, black beldi soap (savon beldi), kessa glove exfoliation, and rhassoul clay to deeply cleanse and soften the skin. Unlike a standard sauna, the hammam is an active treatment — your therapist performs each step, working systematically across every surface of the body. The result is dramatically softer, brighter skin, a deeply cleansed feeling, and complete physical relaxation.

Why it feels so good

Benefits of Moroccan Bath

01

Deep exfoliation

The kessa glove removes dead skin to reveal a fresh surface.

02

Softer, brighter skin

Black soap and steam leave the skin noticeably renewed.

03

Draws out impurities

Rhassoul clay (in the Royal bath) purifies and detoxifies.

04

Improves circulation

Steam and scrubbing stimulate healthy blood flow.

05

Deeply relaxing

The warmth and ritual ease both body and mind.

06

A complete reset

You leave feeling thoroughly cleansed and renewed.

What to expect during your session

On arrival you are shown to a private steam room where the heat prepares your body for treatment. Your therapist then applies black beldi soap across the whole body and lets it work for several minutes before using a kessa exfoliation glove to systematically lift away dead skin.

In the Royal Moroccan Bath, a rhassoul clay mask follows to draw out impurities, with a scalp treatment and extra massage, before a final warm rinse. We offer the Standard bath (45 min) and the Royal bath (60 min), and you can combine either with a Swedish massage for the ultimate experience.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Standard and Royal Moroccan bath?

The Standard Moroccan Bath (45 min, 650 AED) includes steam preparation, full black-soap application and kessa-glove exfoliation across the whole body. The Royal Moroccan Bath (60 min, 850 AED) adds a rhassoul clay body mask, a scalp treatment and extra massage — the complete traditional hammam as performed in the finest Moroccan riads.

What should I wear for a Moroccan bath?

You wear disposable underwear, which the spa provides, and everything else you need for the ritual is supplied on arrival — towels, black soap, the kessa glove and clay. Simply arrive a few minutes early and your therapist will guide you through each step in a private steam room.

Can I combine the hammam with a massage?

Yes — popular combinations include Swedish Massage + Moroccan Bath (60 min) and Swedish Massage + Royal Moroccan Bath, pairing deep cleansing with full-body relaxation. It is one of the most complete experiences we offer. Message us on WhatsApp for current combination pricing and to book your preferred time.

How will my skin feel afterwards?

Dramatically softer, brighter and deeply cleansed. The kessa exfoliation lifts away dead skin while the steam and black soap renew the surface, so most guests are genuinely amazed at the difference after a single ritual — it is one of the most satisfying treatments for the skin on our Abu Dhabi menu.
